Jumia is a big name in the Kenyan online shopping business and it is for this reason many companies entering the local smartphone market want a piece of the giant retailer’s market reach. We recently saw a relatively new entrant set up shop on the retailer and another, Huawei, although not a new name to Kenyan smartphone buyers, also has its own official shop on Jumia Kenya.
You might have already known this, but what recently caught my attention was the local availability of Huawei Honor phones. Initially, Honor phones sold on Jumia were mainly from global retailers and we all know how brutal these retailers can be with their pricing. In fact, most of the Honor phones sold on the retailer are still available through global retailers. However, as of this writing, you can also purchase Honor phones for ideal prices and since they are available locally, you won’t have to wait for weeks before your phone arrives.
However, it’s worth noting that while Huawei has an official online shop on Jumia Kenya, I didn’t see any Honor phones in there. Of course, the ones available are sold by other local retailers, but it’s unlikely that the Chinese company has plans to stock Honor phones in the same shop, at least based on this response.

Still, in the official Huawei shop, there are plenty of cool phones to pick from, including the premium Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 9, the midrange Mate 10 Lite, Huawei P20 Lite, and a surprisingly pricey P10 Lite (it’s been listed for Sh 45,999 while the newer and more powerful P20 Lite is priced at below Sh 35,000), and the budget Huawei P Smart, Y7 Prime 2018 and Y5 Prime 2018, among others.
