Every other month, Chinese benchmark platform Antutu releases results of the devices that its users have been putting head to head with others.
In the just-ended month of November, the second generation of Asus’ Republic of Gamers smartphone beat them all to emerge the top among the most premium Android devices that one can buy right now.
That is not surprising to us since we had seen the device make a strong showing only three months earlier, emerging tops in a similar list.
The Asus ROG Phone 2 not only packs Qualcomm’s snappy high-end processor (the Snapdragon 855+) and lots of memory (12GB), the essential ingredients to top performance, it backs them up with the super-fast UFS 3.0 for its mammoth 512GB flash storage to stand out in a list entirely dominated by Chinese smartphone brand OnePlus.
Even better, the device had been heavily discounted during the Black Friday season, making it an easy target for all comparisons by new buyers eager to showcase the power that their swanky new purchase has.
On the budget front, smartphones from Xiaomi eclipsed every other brand.
There is not even a single device from Huawei and subbrand Honor that makes the top 10. Oppo and subbrand Realme, however, fared much better with three devices: the Oppo Reno 2 and 2 Realme devices making the cut.
For anyone who’s been eyeing the Samsung Galaxy A80, which does a good job challenging the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro in the local market, they’ll be pleased to note that the device manages to hold up on its own.
