Over the last 24 hours, Kenyans who had pre-registered for the ChatGPT rollout have been receiving notifications of the app’s availability. Most, like yours truly, have been having the app automatically downloaded on their devices.
Open AI, ChatGPT’s maker, took a phased approach to the app’s rollout, starting with a handful of markets before availing it to more over the course of a week.
With the access, Kenyans using Android devices can now get instant answers to their queries using the app.
As previously noted, the app brings with it many of the features and functions of the popular conversational chatbot that users are accustomed to on the web.
The rollout also brings to a stop the confusion that has lingered on the Play Store for months as malicious developers scammed unsuspecting users by gathering their data using non-official “ChatGPT” apps.
It also means that those who are interested in the app, regardless of whether they had registered their interest or not, can simply search for it on the Play Store, download and install and be on their way.
