Samsung kills monthly security updates for Galaxy S20 and Note 20

This means the Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy Note 20 will now receive security updates once every 3 months.

Samsung has officially shifted the Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy Note 20 lineups to a quarterly security update schedule. This change, implemented with the April 2024 security release, means these devices will no longer receive the monthly security patches they once did.

The move underscores the approaching end-of-life support for these former flagship smartphones. While they will still receive security updates once every 3 months, the reduced frequency indicates Samsung is slowly winding down active development for these devices.

Owners of the Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy Note 20 are encouraged to check for and install the latest April 2024 security update if and when it arrives. Even though further security patches are expected, their arrival will be less frequent.

This is also your sign to start looking for an upgrade, and the exciting deals on the Galaxy S24 series may just be worth checking out.
