The innovative folks at TECNO have finally spilled the beans in their latest newsletter, and we’re buzzing with excitement. Mark your calendars — March 4, 2025, is the big day when the TECNO Camon 40 series officially launches at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. Yep, the “TECNO AI Ecosystem Product Launch” event is where it’s all going down, and we can’t wait to see what this flagship imaging and AI-driven smartphone lineup has in store for us.

Now, before you start counting your shillings and rushing to pre-order, here’s the catch: TECNO’s keeping us in suspense about when the Camon 40 series will hit the shelves in Kenya and other regions. Will it be a quick sprint to availability, or are we in for a teasing wait? For now, let’s dive into what we do know.

TECNO is making waves at #MWC25 Get ready for the CAMON 40 Series & the expansion of the TECNO AI ecosystem from next-level AI imaging to AI glasses & AI-powered laptops March 4th: Let’s #CreateTheAIFuture together #Camon40Series #TECNOAIGlassesSeries #TECNOMegabookS14 pic.twitter.com/SenhOGpVhU

A camera that snaps like lightning

If there’s one thing TECNO’s Camon lineup has always nailed, it’s photography — and the Camon 40 series is ready to take that legacy to the next level. According to TECNO Mobile, this series is all about “redefining mobile photography with powerful snap anytime.” Picture this: you’re at Nairobi’s Uhuru Park, and a stunning sunset pops off. With the Camon 40’s zero-delay performance and a slick one-tap button, you’ll capture that golden moment faster than ever before.

Powered by TECNO AI and the latest MediaTek Ultimate processors (think Dimensity 8350 Ultimate for the Premier model, per leaks), the Camon 40 series is set to deliver silky-smooth multi-skin-tone imaging. Remember TECNO’s Universal Tone tech? It’s getting an upgrade with a 372-patch color card — up from 268 — ensuring every Kenyan skin tone shines in portraits. Whether you’re snapping selfies at the Maasai market or group shots at Diani Beach, expect vibrant, true-to-life results.

AI magic beyond the lens

TECNO’s not stopping at killer cameras. The Camon 40 series is packing some serious AI muscle to make your daily grind a breeze. Image generation? Check. Content creation? Yup. Intelligent search and smart calling? Oh, you bet! Imagine whipping up Instagram captions or finding that perfect meme without breaking a sweat — all thanks to TECNO AI. The announcement teases “practical AI features” for everyday life, and we’re itching to see how they play out. More details will drop at the launch, so stay tuned!

What’s cooking under the hood?

While TECNO’s official announcement keeps the specs light, the internet’s been buzzing with leaks. Reports from Gadgets360 and 91mobiles suggest the lineup might include the Camon 40, Camon 40 Pro (4G and 5G variants), and the top-tier Camon 40 Premier 5G. Display-wise, we’re talking 6.78-inch AMOLED screens for the base and Pro models (120Hz for 4G, 144Hz for 5G), while the Premier might sport a 6.74-inch quad-curved AMOLED at 144Hz. Smooth scrolling and eye-popping visuals? Yes, please!

For power, the 4G models could rock a MediaTek Helio G100 Ultimate with 8GB RAM (plus virtual RAM boosts), while the 5G Pro might flex a Dimensity 7300 Ultimate, and the Premier could strut with that Dimensity 8350 Ultimate AI SoC and 12GB RAM. Cameras? Think 50MP main shooters across the board, with the Premier possibly adding a 50MP ultrawide and 50MP telephoto with 3x zoom — perfect for zooming in on wildlife at Amboseli.

Battery life’s looking solid too. Leaks from unbox.ph hint at a 5100mAh battery with 45W charging for the base model, while the Premier might juice up at 70W. And at just 7mm thick for some variants, these phones could be as sleek as they are powerful.

TECNO’s not stopping at smartphones — this launch is a full-on AI party! Alongside the Camon 40 series, they’re unveiling the MEGABOOK S14, dubbed the world’s lightest 14-inch OLED laptop, and a new AI glasses series. Think seamless connectivity and productivity boosts, all tied together with TECNO’s “AI, So Easy” vibe. It’s clear they’re gunning to make life smarter and more fun for folks in emerging markets like Kenya.

So, what’s the vibe at Android Kenya? We’re thrilled about the March 4 reveal, but the lack of a local availability date has us tapping our feet. TECNO’s got a strong foothold here, so we’re hoping they won’t keep us waiting too long.
