Oppo is rolling out a new software update to the self-proclaimed Selfie Expert, Oppo F1, a very rare one for a device that first came out in January 2016. This makes it over 3 years old and thus ineligible for any further software support from the company, yet here we are.
Out of the box, the Oppo F1 runs ColorOS 2.1 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The device was given a Marshmallow treat via the company’s Project Spectrum that brought AOSP Android to the device. However, we have no way of verifying whether the incoming update is based on Marshmallow or Lollipop.
Nonetheless, we do have the brief changelog provided by the company alongside the download file, which you can grab and install the update manually. But we still want to believe the F1 will get this latest update over the air, at least if the device isn’t unlocked or rooted.
Oppo says the new update, which is arriving as version F1EX_11_A.24, improves compatibility with third-party apps, but it doesn’t go into any other specifics.

But even without any of these specifics, it’s obvious that for a device of the Oppo F1’s age, bug fixes, stability and system-wide performance improvements are part of this update, so be sure to grab it if you are still rocking the F1.
