OnePlus has officially announced its first-ever Android tablet called the OnePlus Pad targeting the high-end market with a beautiful stylish look and with top-of-the-line specifications to match.

Powering the tablet is the Dimensity 9000 chipset coupled with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of fast UFS 3.1 storage. It is likely there will be variants with higher RAM and storage. The chipset and generous amount of RAM will put the tablet against the upcoming Pixel Tablet, Galaxy Tab S9 and the next iPad from Apple.

OnePlus has taken a different direction in its display, moving away from the conventional aspect ratios, and opting for a 7:5 aspect ratio on an 11.6-inch display. This unusual aspect ratio might interest buyers who might want a slightly different form factor from the ones offered by other OEMs.

The display at a resolution of 2800x2000px has a variable refresh rate of up to 144 Hz and supports Dolby Vision. Dolby Atmos is also incorporated for the best experience in listening to your movies or music.

For a tablet, the camera set-up is decent, boasting a 13 MP main sensor capable of recording 4K content while the front-facing camera comprises an 8 MP sensor capable of 1080p content for your video call needs.

As is the case for most tables, you get a humongous battery rated 9,510 mAh which according to OnePlus can support 14.5 hours of video streaming and a month of standby. Furthermore, the charging system at 67 W SuperVOOC speeds will fill up the battery from 0% to full charge in just 80 minutes.

As part of the accessories, the OnePlus Pad will ship with a few items, including a pen (Stylo) and a magnetic keyboard. However, It is not yet clear whether these will have to be paid for separately.

OnePlus says the Pad will be available in the “coming weeks” and shies away from providing a definite release date and from also providing the pricing details. When they ultimately provide us with these details, it will be interesting to see how their take on a high-end tablet compares against those from Samsung, Apple, Google and Xiaomi.
