Oppo confirms Reno13 series launch date in Kenya

Oppo Kenya is rolling out the red carpet for the Reno13 series launch on February 28, 2025, at 7:30 pm, and it’s shaping up to be a tech party you won’t want to miss. The lineup features the Reno13 F 5G and Reno13 F (4G), each flaunting two stunning color options and a design that screams premium vibes with a rugged twist. Oh, and did I mention revolutionary AI photography? Yep, Oppo’s bringing the big guns to Kenya once again!

Last year, I dove into Oppo’s rapid-fire release cycle in my piece, “Oppo Reno rollercoaster: another upgrade really?” I questioned whether we really needed a new Reno phone every 5 months, but Oppo’s back to prove me wrong exactly 5 months after the launch of the Reno12 series in Kenya — or at least tempt me with some shiny new toys.

What’s new with the Reno13 series?

Oppo Kenya’s teasers on X and their official pages confirm two stars for this launch: the Reno13 F 5G and Reno13 F 4G. No word yet on the standard Reno13 hitting Kenya, so for now, it’s all about these F-series beauties. Here’s the scoop on their specs and standout features:

    • Reno13 F 5G:
        • 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a jaw-dropping 92.2% screen-to-body ratiohello, immersive vibes!
        • 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and a 32MP selfie snapper.
        • Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 powering the show with 5G speed.
        • 5,800mAh battery with 45W fast wired charging.
        • Colors: Plume Purple and Graphite Grey.
    • Reno13 F 4G:
        • Same gorg 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz smoothness.
        • 50MP wide, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro (no OIS here), and a 32MP front camera.
        • MediaTek Helio G100 keeping things zippy, but without 5G connectivity.
        • 5800mAh battery with 45W fast wired charging.
        • Colors: Graphite Grey and Skyline Blue.

These phones aren’t just pretty faces. Oppo’s gone all out with a Butterfly Shadow design — think butterfly wings dancing on the back cover, thanks to some fancy laser tech. The mix of matte and glossy finishes shifts colors with the light, making these devices look alive. And durability? They’ve got All-Round Armour with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, plus IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings — splash-proof, dunk-proof, and jet-proof up to 80°C.

My take: Another Reno, another wow?

As I mused in my piece last July, Oppo’s Reno releases come fast and furious. I wondered if the upgrades were worth it, but the Reno13 F duo’s AI photography chops and borderline-indestructible build might just win me over. That Butterfly Shadow aesthetic? It’s like nature and tech had a glamorous baby. Check out my full rant here to see why I’m both skeptical and secretly excited.

Reno13 pricing? Stay tuned!

Oppo’s keeping the price tags under wraps until the big reveal on February 28. Will they be budget-friendly steals or premium splurges? My gut says Oppo Kenya knows how to play the value game, but we’ll know for sure this Friday. Keep your eyes glued to their socials — YouTube, Facebook, TikTok — and catch the live action on TV47 and KTN at 7:30 pm.

Why you should care

The Reno13 F 5G is waving the 5G flag with OIS for silky-smooth videos — perfect for Kenya’s growing creator crowd. The Reno13 F 4G, meanwhile, keeps it real for those who don’t need next-gen networks but still want a big screen and solid specs. Both pack a punch with that ergonomic design and durability that laughs in the face of water jets. Oppo’s calling it a “breakthrough and fusion” moment, and honestly, I’m here for it.

So, Kenya, mark your calendars, charge your hype batteries, and join me in counting down to February 28. Whether you’re a shutterbug or just love a phone that can take a beating, the Reno13 series is about to make your moment. See you at the launch — virtually or otherwise!
