Software security firm Sophos unveiled the latest version of its Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) product for businesses at an event in Barcelona, Spain, where the Mobile World Congress has been ongoing.

Sophos Mobile 7, available through the Sophos Central cloud management platform starting mid-March, adds support for a number of things including Android for Work (which is nowadays known as Android Enterprise) and Android Things.

Android Things is an Android-based platform for the Internet of Things (IoT) devices. It is what was previously referred to as Project Brillo by Google during its early stages. It is the operating system that will power connected speakers, security cameras, routers and other smart devices. There’s a detailed explainer on Android Authority if you are keen on the specifics and inner workings of Android Things.

“Sophos Mobile 7 security enhancements include antiphishing technology to protect users from malicious links in emails and documents and improvements to Sophos’ Android security and anti-malware app. There are also usability enhancements to the Secure Workspace and Secure Email app where users now can open, view and even edit encrypted and secure Office format documents and attachments without leaving the secure and encrypted container,” reads a statement from the company.
