Xiaomi Mi 9 will be selling at a massively discounted price during the opening of the Mi Store in Nairobi CBD this coming weekend.
Xiaomi Kenya hasn’t mentioned the exact price details yet, but since the phone is usually priced in the regions of Kshs 45,000, it means you could easily pocket the discounted Mi 9 for a lowly 5,000 bob or thereabout!
That’s super crazy for a smartphone that packs nearly all the bells and whistles of a flagship handset released in 2019. We are looking at things like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset, a Super AMOLED screen protected by Gorilla Glass 6, a base RAM of 6GB, a tri-lens main camera, an under-display fingerprint scanner, fast wired (27W) and wireless (20W) charging, and so on.
Although it comes preinstalled with MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie, an update to Android Q won’t take ages to arrive once Google makes the stable version available. This is so because Xiaomi Mi 9 users are also taking part in the beta testing program.
It’s worth noting that Xiaomi Mi 9 isn’t the only device that will be enjoying massive discounts during the Mi Store launch this weekend. The Mi 8 is also on offer at a 90% discount, meaning it should be even cheaper than the projected Kshs 5,000 pricing of the Mi 9.
Xiaomi Kenya says other phone models will get a discount of up to 80%, which is just insane. But you’ll have to attend the event to stand a chance of snagging one of these since they’ll be available in limited quantity and served in a FIFO system.
