Oppo has finally officially unveiled the Reno5 series in Kenya.

In an online launch streamed on Oppo Kenya’s pages and channels, the company confirmed the rollout of the Oppo Reno5 and the Oppo Reno5 F in the local market over the coming days.

As we had earlier reported, pre-orders for the two devices open tomorrow, February 23rd, and run all the way to March 1st.

Pre-orders can be made online via Jumia, Masoko and/or Kilimall as well as at physical retail outlets (all Oppo brand stores).

Customers who pre-order any of the devices from the above-mentioned online outlets will get free pre-order gifts comprising a pair of Enco W11 wireless earbuds, an Oppo-branded backpack and a Bluetooth speaker. Those who place their pre-orders at any of the Oppo brand stores countrywide will, in addition to the device, walk away with the same set of wireless earphones and Oppo backpack as their counterparts who make their pre-orders online. Additionally, they will get a free 6-months screen replacement from Oppo under its screen protection plan meant to cushion buyers of the Reno5 series devices from the bane of accidental drops.

The Oppo Reno5 series features a boatload of features dedicated towards making the user experience better. The photography and videography experience (with more emphasis placed on the former) has been upgraded from the Reno4 with better cameras on the front and the back with software optimizations and ColorOS 11 resulting in better performance despite the device retaining the Snapdragon 720G chipset that also shipped with the Reno5’s predecessor.

The Reno5, specifically, arrives with a slightly bigger battery compared to its predecessor, the Oppo Reno4. More importantly, the bigger battery can be charged from 0 to 100% in just under 50 minutes thanks to the inclusion of a wall charger rated at 50W that allows it to take advantage of Oppo’s proprietary VOOC charging technology, currently in its fourth generation.

The Oppo Reno5, the superior of the two devices, marks the first time we are seeing a high-refresh-rate display on the Reno series with its 90Hz refresh rate.

The Oppo Reno5 is going for Kshs 42,000 while the Oppo Reno5 F will retail at Kshs 32,000.

We will be exploring the device in detail in the coming days so be on the lookout for more related content on the same. For now, here’s our video highlighting the unboxing experience and the initial walkthrough:
