You have already seen it in the movies, where all five fingers in a hand are scanned in order for a person to be granted entry into a private area. Well, this could be coming sooner rather than later to your Galaxy smartphone, according to what Samsung has been up to.

The South Korean company is working on a solution that would make the entire OLED screen capable of scanning multiple fingerprints simultaneously, which would in turn dramatically increase the security of your smartphone. By just how much, you might ask? According to Samsung, using three fingerprints simultaneously for authentication is 2.5×10^9 (2.5 billion) more secure than just using a single fingerprint.

Furthermore, the new technology will work on the entire screen, which is a huge upgrade compared to what is available now where you have to place your finger at a specific position on the screen in order to unlock your phone.

This will all come to pass with OLED 2.0 which Samsung says is the next generation of displays. ISORG CEO has gone further to claim that Samsung will have the technology ready for its OLED displays in the next two years. ISORG claims its own multi-fingerprint scanning technology is ready and expects Samsung to use similar materials to develop its own version.

With the expected release in 2025, according to ISORG. The CEO expects the multi-fingerprint technology to become the standard for security in the smartphone market. How iPhone reacts to this will be interesting to see, since they appear to be putting more emphasis on Face ID. When it eventually releases, Samsung will automatically become the industry leader in this area.

However, this is not all doom and gloom for other manufacturers. As is usually the case for Samsung Display products, other smartphone manufacturers can always buy the products from Samsung and have the technology on their own lineups. After all, even iPhones use displays developed by Samsung.
