Android 14 is on the way. Since we reported on its developer previews, the upcoming version has since moved to the beta stage. And, as we have learned over the years, beta usually means that we can all get to give the new operating system a spin before it goes official, right?
Well, if you’re a user of an eligible smartphone from Google (Pixel) then, yes. For the rest of us, it’s always a cat and mouse game, toying with our chances every year, crossing our fingers that the makers of the devices we have have been gracious enough to join the beta program and earned us the coveted invite from Google to try out the next version of Android.
This year, users of the following devices are in luck:
- Nothing Phone (1)
- OnePlus 11
- vivo X90 Pro
- iQOO 11
- Realme GT 2 Pro (in Chinese)
- Xiaomi 13 Pro
- Xiaomi 13
- Xiaomi 12T
- Oppo Find N2 Flip
- Tecno Camon 20 series (recently announced, launching soon in Kenya)
On Google Pixel smartphones, the following are eligible:
- Pixel 4a (5G)
- Pixel 5a
- Pixel 5
- Pixel 6a
- Pixel 6
- Pixel 6 Pro
- Pixel 7
- Pixel 7 Pro
If you have any of the above devices, get the Android 14 beta (beta 2 as of the time of publishing this) from the Android developers site.
Conspicuously missing from the above lists are devices from HMD Global, the custodians of the Nokia brand as far as mobile devices go. How the mighty have fallen!
We will continuously update these lists as more and more device makers and their devices join the Android 14 beta program.
