The wait is over for Kenyan owners of the Galaxy A04e, as Samsung has finally begun rolling out the long-awaited One UI 6.0 update based on Android 14. This update brings a plethora of new features and improvements to the budget-friendly device, but unfortunately, it arrives with a slight disappointment.
The rollout, which commenced in mid-January in several Asian countries, has finally reached Kenya after a delay of almost a month. While the update brings the A04e up to speed with the latest software iteration, a curious detail has emerged.
Despite boasting a newer build version (A042FXXU6DXB4) compared to the previous update available in other regions (A042FXXU6DXA2), the Kenyan rollout features the same December 2023 security patch. This means that while Galaxy A04e users gain access to the new features and functionalities baked into the One UI 6 and Android 14 update, they miss out on the potential security enhancements that would have come with a more recent patch.
Although the lack of the latest security patch might be a minor letdown, Kenyan Galaxy A04e owners will undoubtedly be relieved to finally receive the major software update. The rollout has just begun, and as with any OTA (Over-The-Air) update, it may take a few days or even weeks before all devices receive the download notification. Granted, Galaxy A04e owners are advised to keep checking their software update settings regularly to ensure they don’t miss out on the latest improvements for their device.
Samsung has published a lengthy changelog that you can check out here.
