The Redmi A3 went global in February and offers an excellent value package. It features a 6.71-inch HD LCD display screen with a high 90Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for enhanced screen protection. On top of that, the device is complemented by a Mediatek Helio G36 chipset and up to 6GB RAM with storage options of 64GB on the base model and 128GB on the high end variant.
The Redmi A3 also includes a dedicated microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack along with a USB Type-C port. Charging the enormous 5000mAh battery won’t be as quick, though, thanks to the relatively slow 10W charging speed, but that’s not the worst you can get. The rear has a dual-lens camera with an 8MP primary sensor while the selfie shooter has a 5MP unit. The fingerprint sensor, like most budget smartphones, is conveniently placed on the side.
Xiaomi Kenya is yet to reveal the pricing and availability details for the Redmi A3, but its budget-conscious nature should make it an attractive option for those looking for a capable smartphone without breaking the bank. In India, where it launched last month, the base model (3/64GB) is currently going for INR 7,299 followed by the 4/128GB model at INR 8,299 while the high-end 6/128GB model goes for INR 9,299. These figures translate to about Kshs 11,500, Kshs 13,200 and Kshs 14,700, respectively. But the prices will likely be higher when the phone hits Kenyan shelves.
Stay tuned for official launch announcements and pricing information in the coming days!
