Samsung’s recent announcement about locally manufacturing the Galaxy S24 series in India is quite exciting, and for good reason. Not only does it boost India’s burgeoning tech sector, but it also opens exciting possibilities for neighboring countries. While official details on export destinations remain under wraps, could we be staring at a possibility of a “Made in India, Made for Africa” deal for the S24 series and perhaps even other Samsung products?
Samsung India CEO, JB Park, emphasized the futuristic nature of the Galaxy S24 series, touting its advanced AI capabilities. Going by Park’s words, Indians will soon get their hands on these cutting-edge devices, not just imported from the distant South Korea or China for that matter, but crafted right at home. JB Park said, “This is a device of the future. While the world talks about AI as the next big thing, the Galaxy S24 series brings it live to you. I am very happy to announce that Galaxy S24 series will be manufactured at our Noida factory in India.”
Samsung India officials also confirmed that the Galaxy S24 series manufactured in India will also be exported to other countries. Although specific countries were not identified in the statement, there is speculation that neighboring nations could be among the first to benefit from this manufacturing initiative. While it remains uncertain whether African countries, including Kenya, will receive the “Made in India” models, I think there’s a possibility of this happening at some point.
The prospect of Galaxy S24 models being produced in India raises curiosity about the potential availability of these devices in neighboring markets. Africa, with its growing tech-savvy population, could become a significant market for the Galaxy S24 series, offering consumers advanced features and cutting-edge technology. In fact, Counterpoint Research recently revealed that emerging markets like Africa are one of the leading destinations for premium phones, so having easy and quick access to the Galaxy S24 series through India should be a welcome idea.
While details about the distribution and availability in specific African countries, including Kenya, remain unclear, the prospect of “Made in India” Galaxy S24 models reaching these markets highlights the expanding global footprint of Samsung’s manufacturing endeavors.
