“Launchers maketh Android,” so goes a popular saying among the Android faithful.

Launchers are the clean air that any Android device user breaths. When you get tired of the boring launcher that your device arrives with is when you witness the true power of Android’s customization options as you shop for a replacement launcher.

There is no shortage of awesome third -party launchers on the Play Store. Microsoft (who would’ve thought?) makes the launcher I’m currently rocking on the Infinix S2 Pro.

However, in any Android launcher list worth its salt, you won’t miss the Nova, Action and Apex launcher trio. For quite a long time, the three launchers have dominated the Android customization scene not because there are no others but because they are awesome. While Nova and Action keep getting better every month with minor updates, Apex quietly quit the stage. It’s been nearly 2 years since Apex launcher last received an update. When Android Lollipop and its Material Design user interface was the thing. A lot has happened since then and it often feels like the once-upon-a-time famous launcher is all but dead.

No, it isn’t.

That’s the message from Apex launcher’s creators who are working to reboot it next month.

“We’re working on making Apex even more feature rich and fast on Android 7 Nougat and beyond,” reads a Medium post from the new Apex launcher team.

I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us all.
