Longtime shoppers on the online retailer (it now has offline stores, sigh) Jumia’s platform may be aware of Jumia First, its earlier program to expedite delivery of items bought by its customers. Jumia First has now been rebranded to Jumia Express according to Jumia Kenya.
Under the new Jumia Express program, which is only available to local vendors, items bought by customers residing in Nairobi will be delivered the following day while for customers based outside the capital, Jumia is targeting shortening the delivery timelines by at least a day.
Users will be able to identify which products will benefit from the faster delivery timelines by checking if the products have the Jumia Express logo on their listing page on the Jumia Kenya website.

According to a statement from the company, smartphones, which are almost our main interest here at Android Kenya, are among the items that will benefit from the expedited shipping process brought about by Jumia Express. Other items like television sets and home appliances are also in the mix. As are groceries and fashion items.
“Given that these products are sitting in our warehouse, we are guaranteed to have 100% availability & can pick and pack these products much faster than those that are sitting with vendors. This ensures Jumia Express orders are faster,” Jumia Kenya Managing Director Sam Chappatte is quoted saying in the above-mentioned statement.
While we’re game for anything that makes it easy to get the tech that we are salivating at to our doors the next day, it would even be much nice if we could get it the same day, no?
