Thanks to Black Friday, an event that we have nothing to do with and is only meant for folks in the U.S., we’ll be able to buy products on Jumia at discounted prices of up to 80%. Yes, you read that right. During the Black Friday Festival, which the retailer says will run from November 13th all the way to December 13th, you will be able to purchase any product at huge discounts, but that’s not all.
During the 31 days of crazy shopping deals, you will also be treated to flash sales several times in a day as well as daily giveaways. The retailer also notes that the festival will include things like voucher giveaways, treasure hunts as well as the wheel of fortune, all of which are decent opportunities for you to save big on your shopping.
A brief history of Black Friday
You are probably wondering what’s all this about! Well, just to give you a heads-up, Black Friday is the day that comes after Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. For years now (since 1952), this day has been regarded as the beginning of the Christmas holiday season. During this period, most major retailers in the country open early and offer locals with massive discounts and promotional sales.
While Black Friday remained an event celebrated in the U.S. alone for years, recent times have seen the occasion’s promotional sales cross borders and into other continents, including Africa. Keeping in line with these changes, retailers from all over the world have been offering customers promotional sales during the same period, which is exactly what Jumia is offering beginning mid next month.
This year, Black Friday will be on November 24th, but Jumia wants you to have early access to the deals starting November 13th and well into the main Christmas season, which also comes with plenty of discounts.
In addition to Kenya, Jumia will also be holding Black Friday Festivals in Ivory Coast, Morocco, Egypt and Nigeria.
