Of the many products that Safaricom keeps pushing into the market, the mySafaricom app is one that has always had a special place in my heart. To make the app even better, the giant telco is now rolling out a new update that adds mobile money interoperability as well as reminders for users of Safaricom Home Fibre internet services.
According to the new update, which ups the app’s version to number 220.127.116.11 and started rolling out yesterday via the Google Play Store, users of mySafaricom will now see a new option to send money to non-Safaricom numbers right from within the app.
This option is found under the M-PESA menu, but unlike the process of sending to a Safaricom number that usually displays more details about the transaction before sending the money (name of recipient, phone number, amount being sent and the cost of the transaction), sending to other networks won’t show you any of this info, but we hope things will change in a future update.
Another addition courtesy of the latest update is targeting Safaricom Home Fibre users who often forget that it’s about time to renew their monthly subscription. After you grab the new version of the mySafaricom app, you’ll be able to save, pay and get reminders under the Bill Manager as seen below. The update also has something for Blazers, where there are some changes to the home and bundles page.
The latest mySafaricom app version 18.104.22.168 is already available for download via the Google Play Store.
