A notch and a bigger display: Huawei Y9 2019 set for Kenya release

Huawei Mobile Kenya is set to release the latest member of its Y series of budget smartphones, the Huawei Y9 2019.

The device, which started showing up in certain markets and regulatory approval websites early last month, before eventually being listed on the Huawei Consumer Business Group website later, seeks to provide a more “premium” experience for many young people without requiring them to part with as much as 4 times the amount that it costs to own one of Huawei’s top smartphones.

As per what we know now, the device, which Huawei Mobile Kenya has been heavily teasing on social media, is set to be officially launched for the Kenyan market later this week.

If what Huawei has done previously this year with the local launches of the other members of the Y series, the Y5 Prime and the Y7 Prime 2018, are anything to go by, then we can expect a promotional period during which those who either pre-order or buy the device first stand a chance of walking away with some merchandise from the Chinese device maker. We’ll be looking out for such details and sharing them with you in subsequent weeks.

The device’s pricing is not clear at this point but we’ll find out soon.
