Online shopping in Kenya keeps getting better and better. Not long ago, Safaricom partnered with AliExpress to support M-Pesa payments and a few weeks earlier, Avechi Kenya brought Amazon and AliExpress on board for its global shopping escapades.

Of course, the icing on the cake, regardless of the controversy around it, must be Jumia’s listing on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), but none of this is making the different players stop punching above their heads.

In the latest attempt to serve you better, Avechi Kenya is now offering hire purchase services. This means that customers can pay for products in installments. It’s not the first time such a model is showing up in Kenya, but Avechi becomes the first major online retailer to adopt it.

Unsurprisingly, the retailer has partnered with Lipa Later, a company that is well-known for providing Kenyans with the opportunity to get hands on their favorite gadgets and pay in installments, usually with an interest on top.

Besides Lipa Later, Avechi is also working with Aspira, another product financing company based in Kenya. I haven’t heard about this one before today, but there’s more about it here.
