Tecno is promising fans of the brand and anyone who has been holding out for two of its latest update to its camera-centred smartphone lineup, the Camon series, that they will be launching locally soon.
The Tecno Camon 15, the Tecno Camon 15 Air and the Tecno Camon 15 Premier are the trio that the Chinese brand is availing in the country, 2 months since their global announcement.
The Tecno Camon 15, which is the “middle” device of the three, offering a balance of the features and specifications on either of the other two devices, is already available for purchase locally. The Tecno Camon 15 is going for Kshs 18,000.
According to Tecno, the Premier and the Air will be available in 2 weeks. The Tecno Camon 15 Premier will be going for Kshs 27,000 while the Tecno Camon 15 Air will retail at Kshs 16,000.
The prices are in line with what each device offers.
As has been the case traditionally, the Air is the most affordable of them all with what explicitly separates it from its standard counterpart being the less (by 1GB) memory and the 8-megapixel selfie camera.
On the other hand, the Tecno Camon 15 Premier, according to its maker, “is the first-ever smartphone in Africa to come equipped with Sony’s 64 MP, smart chip-backed camera lens”. With a 64-megapixel main image sensor that towers above those found in the two other models and a pop-up selfie camera, Tecno went all out for the series’ hero model. Does it live up to its billing though?
We’ll find out soon.
As is the case currently with the Tecno Camon 15, the Camon 15 Air and Camon 15 Premier, when they eventually become available, will be up for purchase through select retail outlets as well as online through Jumia Kenya and the Transsion Group’s own e-commerce platform, Xpark.
