Huawei Mobile Kenya is gearing up for the launch of the Huawei Nova 7i.
According to the company, the device will be available towards the end of May.
Announced back in January, the local availability of the Huawei Nova 7i will make it the second device in Huawei’s Nova smartphone series to be made available in the Kenyan market, at least on an official basis.
In January, just as the Nova 7i was being announced globally, Huawei made available the Nova 5T in the Kenyan market.
The Nova series has been one of Huawei’s most successful with sales of over 100 million units being registered across the globe by last year.
The Nova 7i brings Huawei’s renowned midrange chops to the local market and provides those that are not already catered for by the company’s budget Y-series devices but do not want to go all the way up to the upper echelons where the P and Mate series rule, with more options as they look up.
As such, it has all the midrange razzmatazz to go with it. Like a midrange chipset, for instance. Huawei’s own silicon, the Kirin 810, which the company says has noticeably better performance than the competing Snapdragon 730 from Qualcomm that will likely be found on competing devices, powers the device.
It also has a distinctive quad camera with the four lenses (a 48MP main camera, a 120° ultra-wide-angle lens, a portrait bokeh lens and a 4cm macro lens) arranged in a 2 x 2 matrix and promising better optics.
The icing on the cake should be the 4,200mAh battery unit that supports 40W Huawei SuperCharge meaning that it can go from 0-70% in just half an hour, guaranteeing a user coverage for the remainder of the day.
Like the Huawei Y7p launched in Kenya last month, the Huawei Nova 7i will arrive running Huawei Mobile Services. That means having to make do with Huawei’s own alternative app store, AppGallery and workarounds in order to get Google apps and services working, for those that are able to do so in the absence of Google Play Services, and other apps that may not be available via the Huawei AppGallery.
When it launches, the device will be available countrywide through select stores as well as online through Jumia Kenya.
Any guesses what the price of the device will be?
