Safaricom has kicked off a competition targeting mobile gamers in the country.

Dubbed MobiPlay, the competition “will see customers compete on simple puzzle, arcade and action games with daily and weekly prizes as well as a grand prize up for grabs,” according to a statement from the company.

The competition, taking place over the next 2 months (from yesterday till September 4th), targets Safaricom subscribers using its Games Lounge service.

All that one needs to do is be subscribed to the Games Lounge service.

“Customers subscribed to the daily Kshs 10 Games Lounge bundle will receive a 50MB gaming pass to compete in daily and weekly challenges on the platform.”

There will be 10 daily winners for 60 days, 5 weekly winners for 8 weeks and a grand prize winner. The daily winners will walk away with airtime, hoodies and headsets as prizes with the top gamer walking home with a Safaricom Neon Ray Pro smartphone.

The best weekly gamer gets a PlayStation 4 Slim with FIFA 19 while the runner up gets a Nokia 2.2 smartphone. The rest of the top weekly gamers get airtime, power banks and Bluetooth speakers (see table below).

The MobiPlay challenge is a follow up to the regional e-sports tournaments Safaricom hosted last year across the country (someone from my hometown won 🙂 ).
