Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 13 series is set for Kenyan launch on February 10. While the exact Kenyan lineup remains under wraps (the series has multiple 4G and 5G variants), we can already celebrate the series’ confirmed software support duration thanks to details from Google’s Android Enterprise Program.
While the Redmi Note 13 (4G) and Redmi Note 13 Pro (4G) are expected to make their way to Kenya shortly, the company also has three 5G models in the series – Redmi Note 13 (5G), Redmi Note 13 Pro (5G), and the high-end Redmi Note 13 Pro+ (5G), offering a diverse range of options for consumers. However, we still don’t know which ones of these variants will be available locally. But what we do know is how long Xiaomi will provide Android software updates to the entire Redmi Note 13 series.
According to Xiaomi, the Redmi Note 13 series is guaranteed 2 major Android OS upgrades up to Android 15, keeping your phone feeling fresh until at least 2025. But the real surprise lies in the security department: the entire Redmi Note 13 series is in line for a whopping four years of Android security updates!
Below is a screenshot I took from Xiaomi’s official security center:
This extended security support window translates to peace of mind, ensuring your phone receives critical bug fixes and vulnerability patches for a longer period. Where software support ends in January 2028 for the Redmi Note 13 (4G), Redmi Note 13 Pro (4G) and Redmi Note 13 Pro+ (5G); the other two — Redmi Note 13 (5G) and Redmi Note 13 Pro (5G) — will be supported until September 2027. This is likely due to their September 2023 launch back on home soil, which still amounts to four years of support.
This commitment surpasses the usual software support for Redmi Note devices, making the Redmi Note 13 series a compelling choice for those seeking long-lasting value. Whether you’re eyeing the powerful 5G models or sticking with the familiar 4G options, be assured your Redmi Note 13 will remain secure and up-to-date for years to come.
