Fresh from winding up its Android 10 upgrade schedule, HMD Global, the custodian of the Nokia brand on mobile phones, has quickly shifted its focus to the next thing: Android 11.

The latest version of Android has been live on a few devices for exactly a month now.

Given its track record, we expect HMD Global to deliver on its promise of updating over a dozen of its existing smartphones.

With the exception of its hero device from back then, HMD Global, as expected, has dropped the entire second generation (2018) of its smartphones, identified easily by their “.1” names. Last year, the same fate befell the first generation (2017) Nokia smartphones.

The list (see below) is headlined by HMD Global’s latest devices, which are only starting to become available in Kenya at this moment.

“We’ve released over 1000 updates in the past 3 years as part of our Pure, Secure and Up-To-Date pledge, keeping your device safe and protected with the latest Android releases,” a tweet from Nokia Mobile reads.

Here is when you can expect the Android 11 update to get to you if you own or are using a Nokia smartphone (additionally, this can also help inform purchases now and in the future, since no one wants a device that is outdated out of the box with no means of catching up with the latest):

Q4 2020 – Q1 2021

  • Nokia 8.3 5G
  • Nokia 2.2
  • Nokia 8.1
  • Nokia 5.3

Q1 2021

  • Nokia 2.3
  • Nokia 1.3
  • Nokia 2.4
  • Nokia 3.4
  • Nokia 4.2

Q1 – Q2 2021

  • Nokia 3.2
  • Nokia 6.2
  • Nokia 7.2
