Chinese smartphone brand vivo has followed up the release of the Y20 smartphone early this month with yet another budget smartphone, the vivo Y12s.

The vivo Y12s comes with a 5000mAh battery supporting 10W fast charging and 5W reverse charging, a 6.51-inch HD+ 20:9 display, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner (just like on the Y20), a “vertical AI Dual camera module offering a 13MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP Bokeh lens with an f/2.4 aperture” and an 8-megapixel selfie camera.

Under the hood is a MediaTek Helio P35 chipset, 3 GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage.

The device arrives running version 11 of vivo’s FunTouch OS which, (the name shouldn’t mislead you) is still based on Android 10.

The vivo Y12s started selling today exclusively on e-commerce platform Jumia at a price of Kshs 13,000.

From next week, the smartphone will be available for purchase from other (physical) retail outlets but for Kshs 600 more.

The vivo Y12s is available in two colours locally: Phantom Black and Glacier Blue.
