Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi has today announced the launch of the 5G version of the Redmi Note 11 Pro it announced in the country last month.

The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G is available for purchase in the country today at a price of Kshs 46,000.

Pricing for the other Redmi Note 11 series devices that are already available in our market started at Kshs 20,000 for the entry-level base spec Redmi Note 11 and topped out at Kshs 35,000 for the fully specced Redmi Note 11 Pro.

So, is the Kshs 11,000 top-up needed to get to the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G worth it?

For that amount, one gets a 6.67-inch Full HD+ Dot AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Dimensity 920 processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB onboard storage and a 4,500mAh battery with 120W fast wired charging (Xiaomi HyperCharge) that sees the device go from 0 to 100% in just 15 minutes of charging.

On the optics front, it packs a 108-megapixel primary camera at the back which is backed by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 2-megapixel macro lens.

Obviously, on the network connectivity front, as is hinted to by the name, there’s 5G connectivity for when one is in a 5G network coverage zone since it is still a rarity in the country.

Redmi 10 5G

For those that can’t pull up to the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G’s pricing, Xiaomi also has the Redmi 10 5G to offer a much more affordable step up to the world of the ultra-fast mobile browsing promised by 5G networks with not one but two 5G SIMs.

While the pricing is something we don’t know, yet, we expect it to go for much lower than its Note 11 series counterpart when it becomes available in the Kenyan market in May.

The Redmi 10 5G is a step upgrade to the Redmi 10 series that was unveiled last year. It packs a 6.58-inch Full HD+ Dot Drop display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood is a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor and a 5,000mAh battery. There’s a 50-megapixel main image sensor that is backed by a 2-megapixel snapper. The device comes with a 22.5W fast-charger in the box.

Both devices feature side-mounted fingerprint sensors and come in Graphite Gray colour.
