Xiaomi sub-brand Poco (remember them?) has a new device in the Kenyan market.

The Poco M4 Pro was launched yesterday and is already available for purchase online through .

The device is going for Kshs 25,000 for the base model (6GB RAM, 128GB onboard storage) and Kshs 30,000 for the top model which has 8GB RAM and double the storage (256GB).

There is a 5G model of the device, the Poco M4 Pro 5G, which is larger and has a few feature and specification variations, but it is not the one we are getting in Kenya at this time.

The Poco M4 Pro features a 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Helio G96 chipset (which we have seen in quite a number of smartphones that have made it to our market since its debut last year on the Tecno Camon 18 series), a choice of either 64, 128 or 256 GB internal storage paired with either 6 or 8 GB memory. As already highlighted, we are getting the 128 and 256 GB storage configurations in Kenya.

On the camera front is a 64-megapixel main camera backed by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide and a 2-megepixel macro lens. At the front, for selfies, is a 16-megapixel sensor.

Poco talks of liquid cooling technology to “keep moderate temperate, no matter how long and how frequently POCO M4 Pro is used” so, using the cameras to shoot videos back-to-back or some other demanding task shouldn’t be much of a concern, especially to someone handling/holding the device.

To back everything up is a sealed 5,000mAh battery unit which is supported by 33W fast-charging – 10 minutes of charge for 2 hours of usage, Poco says.

The Poco M4 Pro runs on MIUI 13, the software that powers Xiaomi’s latest flagship devices.

The device has an IP53 rating meaning limited protection from dust and tolerance for water splashes.
