As expected, Oppo has taken the wraps off its latest Reno 10 series in Kenya.

At a launch last night, the company officially launched the Reno10 5G and the Reno10 Pro 5G.

The availability of the Reno10 Pro 5G marks the first time that the Chinese device maker is availing its Pro models in the local market. It is also the first time that we are not seeing a 4G-only model of the device as the market transitions to 5G devices with the increased availability of the network in the country.

Safaricom’s 5G network has been around for a while now – and keeps on expanding – while Airtel Kenya just unveiled its own 5G network the other day and, according to the communications industry regulator, the numbers are fast rising.

The Oppo Reno10 5G and the Reno10 Pro 5G pack a 6.7-inch Full HD AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and are powered by Android 13 which comes masked as ColorOS 13.1. ColorOS is Oppo’s custom Android overlay.

While adorning the same display, running the same software and being similar in size, the two devices have different chipsets, memory configurations, cameras and battery sizes.

The Reno10 Pro 5G goes with a Snapdragon 778G from Qualcomm while the standard Reno10 5G packs a Dimensity 7050 chipset from Taiwan-based MediaTek.

On the optics front, the Reno10 Pro 5G gets a 50-megapixel main sensor with OIS (optical image stabilization), a 32-megapixel telephoto lens and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The Reno10 5G, on the other hand, has its back headlined by a 64-megapixel sensor and the same two secondary sensors as its superior sibling. On the front, both devices share the same 32-megapixel unit.

The back cameras on both devices can shoot video up to 4K at 30 frames per second while the front-facing ones can do the same at up to 1080 at 30fps.

The Reno10 Pro 5G packs a 4,600mAh battery unit that can be fast-charged using the 80W charger and cable included in the box. The Reno10 5G has a bigger 5,000mAh battery and supports 67W fast charging thanks to Oppo’s proprietary SuperVOOC fast charging technology.

The Reno10 series is available for purchase in the country right away and financing options are available through partners like Aspira.

Pricing is as follows:

  • Oppo Reno10 Pro 5G – Kshs 70,000
  • Oppo Reno10 5G – Kshs 57,000

As usual, we recommend checking with some of our recommended merchants if you’re looking to purchase the device.
