Xiaomi Kenya has finally broken its silence on the next entry-level king from its Redmi lineup — the Redmi A5 — and yes, it’s officially coming to Kenya.
In a post shared across social media, Xiaomi Kenya teased fans with the announcement in classic cheeky style:
“YOU GUESSED IT! 😉 Get ready for a style upgrade!
The Redmi A5 is arriving soon with a fresh new deco design, uniquely crafted for YOU!
Stay tuned for the big reveal on April 22nd, 2025! 🤩”
The brand’s excitement is understandable. The A-series phones have historically been a good fit for our local market, with the Redmi A3 series (including the Redmi A3 Pro and Redmi A3x) getting love for its value-for-money combo. Interestingly, Xiaomi skipped bringing the Redmi A4 to Kenya, at least officially — but hey, we’re not complaining. The A5 looks like a worthy step forward.
So, how much might Redmi A5 cost?
Xiaomi hasn’t dropped the Kenyan price tag yet, but we’ve got clues. When the Redmi A3 launched in 2024, it was priced at Kshs 11,599, and the more premium Redmi A3 Pro followed soon after. Fast forward to now, and the Pro is going for Kshs 11,999, while the budget-focused A3x is currently down to Kshs 8,500.
Given that history, it’s safe to bet the Redmi A5 will launch at around Kshs 12,000. That would place it comfortably in the sweet spot for budget-conscious buyers who still want a stylish and modern phone.

The April 22nd reveal isn’t too far off, and with the way Xiaomi Kenya is hyping it, we’re expecting more local-specific details — maybe even bundle deals — to drop soon after.
Will it be worth the upgrade over the Redmi A3 series? From what we’re seeing, it sure looks like it. The Redmi A5 is clearly coming in with a bang, and if the pricing sticks close to that Kshs 12,000 mark, this could very well be another great offering in the making.
Stay tuned — we’ll be watching the launch closely and will update you as soon as the official pricing lands.
