Google has teased the launch date of their cheapest 10 series Pixel, the Pixel 10a in a fun video on their YouTube channel.
According to the company, the Pixel 10a is scheduled for pre-order on February 18th, which is less than two weeks from now. The video shows that pre-orders are on the same day, but the company is yet to reveal the pricing.
Another detail that was revealed in the ad was the colours. We knew that the Pixel 10a would look like the Pixel 9a from the leaks, but they have seemingly confirmed a blue colour, which looks similar to the indigo colour from the Pixel 10 line. We do not know if they will have the usual black and white colours, but we will have to wait and see for the official reveal.

The ‘a’ variants of the Pixel line have always been the least interesting variants of the Pixel but they do serve a purpose. For markets such as the United States, they are the cheapest way for anyone to join the Google Pixel ecosystem. They may use the current generation Tensor G chip but do not posess the flagship cameras and newer designs of the more expensive Pixel lines.
The Pixel 10a is interesting though. Despite its imminent release, its biggest problem will be the Pixel 9a. They look almost exactly the same and the decision will be made from the pricing. If Google decides to price it at $599 and give a massive discount to the Pixel 9a (it is $399 currently), then I don’t see why people should go for the Pixel 10a. In addition, if Google decides to discount the regular Pixel 10 from $649 to $549 and maintain the Pixel 10a at $499, then it would make sense for one to get the Pixel 10. It is a tricky thing for Google to navigate, so let’s wait and see what they will do on February 18th.
