Just over a month since it unveiled an entry-level smartphone with long battery life, the Huawei Y5 2017, the Chinese device maker is at it again. This time round with the Huawei Y3 2017.

The device, which is now listed on Huawei’s consumer products site, has been leaked numerous times before its silent entry into the market.

As one would expect of any entry-level smartphone, the Huawei Y3 2017’s features and specifications are nothing to write home about. They are basic at best.

It packs a 5-inch display 854 x 480 (FWVGA) pixel display, a quad-core MediaTek MT6737M processor, an 8-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel selfie shooter, 1GB RAM, 8 gigabytes of onboard storage, a 2,200mAh battery unit, 4G and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei’s custom Emotion user interface (version 4.1) layered on top.

It comes in gold, pink, blue, white and gray colours.

The device is likely to follow its sibling, the Huawei Y5 2017, into the Kenyan market at a later date seeing as it is that the company has previously availed its entire Y series range of entry-level devices into the Kenyan market targeting young people who may be first-time smartphone buyers.
