A week since it launched the Y7 smartphone, Huawei has once again, quietly announced yet another member of the Y series of budget devices, the Huawei Y6 2017.
The 2017 edition of the Huawei Y6 packs a 5-inch HD display, a MediaTek MT6737T processor, a 13-megapixel camera at the back and a 5-megapixel camera for selfies on the front, 2GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage (expandable via microSD), 4G and a 3,000mAh battery unit.
Unlike the Y7, the Huawei Y6 2017 will ship with the old EMUI 4.1 overlay which runs on top of Android 6.0, Marshmallow. The Y7 runs EMUI 5.0 on Android 7.0, Nougat.
The Huawei Y6, according to the above specifications and features, sits in the middle of the Y7, announced last week, and the Y5 (2017), announced last month.
The device comes in white, gold and gray colours.
Availability and pricing information for the device, just like for the other Y series devices announced recently, is not yet known even though we can expect to see this device hit the Kenyan market at some point soon.
