Tecno said to be on the verge of releasing a new smartphone series, Spark

Looking for a budget smartphone in Kenya is not as tedious as it used to be. Buyers are spoilt for choice when it comes to the type of smartphone they can buy. From the look of things, if the teasers Tecno Mobile is currently running on its social media pages are anything to go by then even more options may soon become available.

Under the “Capture Your Spark”, the teasers posted on Tecno Mobile Kenya’s Twitter and Facebook pages hint at a brand new device that may as well join the Camons in touting superior imaging features. Since we are yet to see a device named Spark or anything along those lines from Tecno, this may as well turn out to be a new device series.

Tecno being a budget device brand that has over the years been slowly targeting the upper market segments with slightly pricey devices, a new device series is likely to be meant to attract more budget smartphone buyers.

Kevin over at MobiTrends speculates that the Spark device(s) may be a replacement of the Boom smartphone series that Tecno has been releasing over the last few years targeting young customers who are interested in devices with superior sound at a low budget. That may be true considering that we are just 4 months away from another year and we haven’t seen a new Tecno Boom smartphone, yet. Traditionally, Tecno releases its Boom J something devices early in the year before moving on to the camera-centric Camon series in mid-year and then the pricey flagship Phantom series towards the end of the year.

Since there isn’t anything substantial in the public domain, yet, then we’ll have to wait to see what comes up.
