Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 is one of the most interesting smartphones of 2019. The phone was unveiled late last year and so far, not so many markets outside China have official access to it locally. In fact, for us here, it’s still unclear whether Xiaomi Kenya will bring it to these sides.
Fortunately, we have Avechi Kenya, one of the best when it comes to stocking Xiaomi phones and other products from the Chinese vendor. With Xiaomi Kenya still mulling over bringing the Mi MIX 3 to the local market, the retailer has already listed the device up for grabs.

- Dual 24MP + 2MP front camera
- 3200mAh battery

For the uninitiated, it is the first-gen Mi MIX that set the tone for the bezel-less campaign and with this third iteration, the MIX series seems to have achieved maturity.
The Mi MIX 3 is one of the few devices that have found their way around the dreaded notch by using a sliding mechanism that hides the dual-lens selfie camera. Yes, the design brings back old memories, but there is nothing old about this phone.
You are getting the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage on the base model. There is no room to expand this space, but truth be told, 128GB should be enough for anyone out there.
For a device with 6.39 inches of screen real estate, having a 3200mAh battery seems a bit off. However, even if this battery doesn’t last long enough, getting back on the road won’t take you any longer thanks to the included support for Quick Charge 4+ technology. Also, the phone should be aided by the battery-conscious full HD AMOLED panel used.
Even better is that a 10W wireless charger is included in the box, something that cable cutters should find convenient. Both sets of cameras have a dual-lens configuration consisting of two 12MP lenses on the back with up to 2x zoom while the front shooter has a 24MP lens allied to a 2MP depth sensing lens.
Being a Xiaomi phone, the Mi MIX 3 runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie out of the box, but given the phone hasn’t seen much of a global launch, it’s likely the variant Avechi Kenya is selling has the Chinese ROM. The good thing is that you can still use this ROM because it includes support for the English language, but you will have to manually install the Google Play Store and other Google apps that usually come pre-installed on Android phones. Alternatively, you can also flash the global ROM to the device once it’s available.
In the Mi MIX 3, you do get a lot of phone for just Sh 61,999, but be sure to verify with the retailer if the phone is indeed in stock before making the payment.
