Huawei Mobile Kenya is gearing up for yet another unveiling of a budget smartphone in the Kenyan market.
The Huawei Y5 2019, according to the company, will be launched later this month.
The Y5 2019 launch follows those of other budget Huawei devices over the last few months.
Huawei has, since the start of the year, unveiled the Huawei Y7 Prime 2019 and Huawei Y6 Prime 2019, following in the footsteps of the Huawei Y9 2019, Huawei Y5 Lite and others the previous year.
The Huawei Y5 2019 is a 5.7-inch device that is more closer to the Huawei Y5 Prime 2018 (whose review is one of the biggest draws to readers on this site, surprisingly) than the Huawei Y5 Lite 2018 that its pricing (which we still don’t know – and Huawei Mobile Kenya is running a price guess competition on the same on its social media accounts) is likely to be pegged at.
Still, it manages to borrow heavily from the latest members of the Y series like the Huawei Y6 Prime 2019 from which it gets its fake leather design which, like in the Y6, is available in the Amber Brown colour variant. There’s also the dewdrop notch that has come to characterize Huawei’s entire 2019 lineup.
The Huawei Y5 2019 comes with Android 9 Pie straight out of the box masked in Huawei’s EMUI 9.
Other specifications of the device include a HD display, a Helio A22 chipset, 4G LTE capability, 13 and 5-megapixel shooters on the back and front respectively, a 3,020mAh battery (which is unchanged in the entire Y5 family) and a pairing of 2GB memory with either 16 or 32 gigabytes of internal storage. At this point we are not sure if Huawei will unveil all those variants but that’s what’s on offer globally and we will get to know more as days go by.
