The Huawei Y9 2019 is hands-down one of the best budget phones money can buy in Kenya. The device has been around since late last year and according to reports, Huawei is already lining up a superior variant of this same device like the Huawei we know.
Not to be confused with a successor to the Y9 2019, the device in question is to be called Huawei Y9 Prime 2019. This will be the first of its kind thanks to the fact that a Y9 Prime device has never existed before. But of course, it’s not strange to us that Huawei is lining up a Prime variant of a device it released a while ago. It happens on numerous occasions, the most recent one involving the Huawei Y6 2019 and Y6 Prime 2019.
If the latest reports are to be believed, the upcoming Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 will shift to a pop-up selfie camera akin to the Oppo F11 Pro. This is after alleged press material of the phone leaked online showing off both the name and the design.
The introduction of a pop-up selfie shooter should obsolete the need for a notch, but the best part of the rumored Y9 Prime 2019 handset is the main camera. Apparently, a tri-lens shooter is being lined up consisting of a 16MP main lens, a 2MP depth sensor and an 8MP wide-angle lens with a field of view of up to 120 degrees.
Overall, the Y9 Prime 2019 is said to come with a 6.59-inch LCD display with a 1080p resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. On the inside, a Kirin 710 processor will take care of performance alongside 4GB RAM and 128GB expandable storage. A 4000mAh battery with a USB-C port and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner are also on the cards.
When it arrives, it is alleged that the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 will be valued at about Kshs 30,000, which will make it Kshs 5,000 more expensive than the standard Y9 2019. This should put the device up against another one from Huawei – the P30 Lite.
It’s worth noting that these are rumors that have no major backing, so be sure to take them with a grain of salt.
