Samsung Galaxy A9 2018 became the first from the company with a four-lens camera on the back, something that we now see on the Galaxy S10 5G. The phone became available locally in late 2018 and even though it has since been overtaken by the newer and more price-conscious Galaxy A50 and co., Samsung still has it at heart.
Case in point, the Galaxy A9 2018 is on the receiving end of the latest Android 9 Pie update here in Kenya. It’s the first time the update is rolling out locally, but not for the device in general.
The first time Pie arrived on the A9 2018 was back in mid-March 2019, but today, those in Kenya can finally make the switch to the new Samsung One UI. The update is arriving as version A920FXXU1BSD3 and besides Pie, it also tags along a new security patch for March 2019.
Samsung doesn’t release software updates to devices at once. Instead, the rollout will be staggered, meaning some A9 users will get the download notification ahead of others.
Android Pie is also available for the likes of Samsung Galaxy A8 2018, Galaxy A8+ 2018, Galaxy A7 2018, Galaxy A6, Galaxy A6+, Galaxy J8, Galaxy J6, Galaxy J6+, Galaxy J4, and Galaxy J4+ in other markets across Europe and Asia, but the rollout has yet to reach the Kenyan shores.
