Update [May 14, 2019]: The Galaxy J6+ is now receiving the same update to Android 9 Pie here in Kenya. The updates software version is J610FXXU1BSDF and apart from the newer April 2019 security patch, the rest of the changelog is the same as the J6. The original post follows.
The latest Android headlines are all about Android Q, but these sides of the planet, most of us are yet to get a taste of Android 9 Pie, the latest stable version of the popular mobile OS. This ends today, at least for users of Samsung Galaxy J6 here in Kenya.
It’s been over a month since the first Galaxy J6 unit got an update to Android Pie, but this was reported in Europe. Since then, the One UI update has found its way to other regions that include UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the Caucasus Countries, among others.
As of this writing, Samsung has published the official changelog for the Kenyan variant of the Galaxy J6, confirming that Android 9 Pie is now available. The release notes went live today, meaning the rollout has just commenced.
If so, it will take some time before all J6 units receive the download notification, probably until the end of the week or maybe even early next week. When the update finally arrives, it will carry software version J600FXXU3BSD6 and further bump the security patch level to March 2019.
Below is a screengrab of the full changelog as provided by Samsung:
We expect Samsung to push the same update to the Galaxy J6+ in the coming days.
