Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro was among the devices that arrived in Kenya in late 2018 as the company pushed for a stake in the local market with a flurry of budget phones.
Out of the box, the Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with Android 8.1 Oreo spiced with MIUI 9, but the latter software has since been upgraded to MIUI 10, the latest version available. At the time, the MIUI 10 update was based on the same OS that powers the phone out of the box but starting today, Redmi Note 6 Pro users can finally make the switch to Android 9 Pie.
Xiaomi notes that the update to Android Pie also tags along the usual optimizations to system performance and improved system-wide stability and security of the phone. However, don’t expect any major UI overhaul given that the update to MIUI 10 already brought about significant Pie-like UI changes to the Note 6 Pro.
The update is arriving as MIUI 10.3.2 and since it’s a major OS upgrade, it weighs in at 1.7GB, so be sure to get a stable Wi-Fi connection before attempting to download the software.
Alternatively, you can grab the download file below and install it manually on your device, although be sure that you know how this works.
