Tecno Mobile must have surprised many when one of its devices, the Tecno Spark 3 Pro, was included in Android Q beta testing program back in May 2019.
Yes, if you own the Tecno Spark 3 Pro, you can already download and install Android Q beta, but do this knowing that the software is still unstable and not suitable for use as a daily driver.
Despite all the optimism this move brought, it seems Tecno is still far from the ideal company when it comes to Android OS upgrades. As of this writing, none of the company’s devices has received Android Pie through a software update.
To vent their distress at the Chinese vendor, owners of various Tecno smartphones have taken to the official Tecno Forums with stories of how unhappy they are with the lack of major Android OS updates from the company.
“When will Tecno ever let someone update Android versions to 9.0 like other phones [from] Samsung, Huawei and the rest,” one clearly frustrated user commented.
“Please when are we getting Android 9 Pie update and font with HiOS 5? Tecno please try to upgrade to make your customers happy,” another notes.
As if poking fun at Camon 11 owners, another forum member says, “My Huawei gave me an update for Android 9. Whos still using a Camon 11 in July 2019?”
After they received the latest June 2019 security update, another frustrated Camon 11 user argues that “we need Tecno Camon 11 Android Pie updates not this patch shit…Tecno should do something about this.”
The ranting goes on and on and doesn’t appear to be stopping anytime soon. Meanwhile, those using devices like Infinix Note 5, Note 5 Stylus and Infinix Smart 2 Pro already made the switch to Pie.
