‘Game of Thrones Beyond The Wall’ is Huawei AppGallery’s biggest catch, yet

Even before the limitations that came with the ban by United States authorities on partners and suppliers from that country when it comes to trading and licensing of technology to Huawei went into place in May last year, Huawei had long been working on its own app platform.

Dubbed Huawei AppGallery, efforts at making the platform front and centre of the company’s efforts have increased several times-fold as the need to have one place where users can access and update their applications now that the company’s devices no longer have guaranteed access to Google Play is direr than it has ever been before.

With the Huawei Mate 30 series last year, the newly-announced Huawei P40 series this year and upcoming devices arriving without Google Mobile Services – Google apps and services that users of Android devices have become accustomed to – Huawei is making a big push for AppGallery and its own equivalent Huawei Mobile Services.

So far, Huawei has been hard at work courting developers of various apps with the most notable, globally, being the likes of software giant Microsoft whose apps like Office are already available on AppGallery.

Tomorrow, April 3rd, AppGallery will be playing host to its biggest catch so far: Game of Thrones Beyond The Wall.

The strategic RPG game is expected to draw many users, especially fans of the popular TV and fantasy book series it is based on, Game of Thrones.

Available for pre-registration over the last few days and only available through the Play Store starting today, the game’s arrival on AppGallery marks the first big release Huawei’s platform has witnessed in its entire existence. Is this a sign of things to come?

The likes of Samsung, who, fortunately, don’t have the same pressure that Huawei has thanks to the US government’s actions, have done something similar on their app stores in past years; at times even scoring blockbuster releases ahead of Google Play.

According to the company, Huawei Mobile Services, of which AppGallery is a part of, boasts of having over 1.3 million developers and partners whose apps and other content is already being accessed by over 400 million users of Huawei devices in over 170 countries around the world.
