With Samsung’s Unpacked event ever so near on the 10th of August, various information regarding the expected devices has been leaking, with the latest being new renders showcasing the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro.

The leaks come courtesy of 91Mobiles, and you can take a look at them below. From the onset, you can already tell that they still look pretty similar to the outgoing Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro.

What I find interesting is that the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro appears to have more subdued colour schemes like black and grey, while the Watch 5, on the other hand, is showcased with brighter colours including purple and peach. The Watch 5 however, also has the classic black in case you do not like the very bright colours.

Earlier rumours had indicated that Samsung would be dropping the rotating bezel in the Watch 5 series. So far, this seems to hold up, as the renders show a round display with no rotating bezel in sight.

If you are not a huge fan of touch screens on your watches, the renders show two physical buttons that are well blended with the straps. Whether this will be enough for you is something you will have to find out once the reviews are out.

While the overall design language largely seems unchanged from the Watch 4, the Watch 5 series will see a series of upgrades under the hood to improve the everyday usability of the smartwatches.

First, they are getting an upgrade on the chipset, a bigger battery will also be fitted to improve battery life while on the software side, Samsung’s One UI will be overlaid on the Wear OS 3.5.

Finally, as these claims in the rumour mill aren’t official, take them with a pinch of salt as some rumours tend to be quite off the mark. However, you can always trust us to update you on the official news and specifications once Samsung provides more information regarding their upcoming devices, including the much-awaited fourth-generation foldables which we covered their leaked prices here.
