These are the smartphones getting MIUI 14, according to Xiaomi
FacebookTwitterWhatsApp

Xiaomi is just fresh from unveiling its 13 series devices at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain.

The two devices, the Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro, were announced last year in China. Xiaomi took the stage at MWC 2023 to announce them globally. In the process, the company revealed a surprise new device, the Xiaomi 13 Lite.

During the event, the company revealed the devices that it plans to update first to the latest iteration of its custom take on Android, MIUI 14, a process it already started early this year.

MIUI 14 is Xiaomi’s customized version of Android 13. While it keeps many of the changes that Google brought to Android with version 13, it also includes many of the unique features it has availed to the tens of millions of users of its devices in past versions of MIUI as well as a bunch of new features that we highlighted earlier on.

While the list of devices Xiaomi highlighted is definitely not final and several other devices should be joining it in the coming weeks and months, for now, these are the chosen few:

  • Xiaomi 12T Pro
  • Xiaomi 12T
  • Xiaomi 12 Pro
  • Xiaomi 12
  • Xiaomi 12X
  • Xiaomi 12 Lite
  • Xiaomi 11T Pro
  • Xiaomi 11T
  • Mi 11 Ultra
  • Mi 11i
  • Mi 11
  • Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE
  • Mi 11 Lite 5G
  • Mi 11 Lite
  • Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G
  • Redmi Note 10 Pro
  • Redmi Note 10
  • Redmi 10 5G

MIUI 14 brings with it several new features while building on many others that Xiaomi device users have come to know and, maybe, love.

It introduces a “Connected Devices” feature that ensures that apps on one’s phone are always in sync with those on their tablet with a simple click as well as allowing drag and drop capabilities for files on such a pair of devices.

Improved on-device privacy sees to it that about a dozen Xiaomi apps process sensitive data on the device without the need to send it to remote servers, enhancing the privacy of the user and fully exploiting a device’s performance capabilities.

When it comes to the said performance, Xiaomi is promising performance improvements with the system optimized to take up less space than before while performing at the highest possible level. It has done this by halving the number of apps it pre-installs. From a record high of over 15 apps, now there are just about 8 of them.

There are visual changes as well with a new card-style user interface taking centre stage and notifications no longer being rendered permanent – a user can close them when they need to.

Unused apps are “auto-compressed” by the system.
