Google Photos users are all too familiar with the frequent reminders that pop up asking them to fix lighting issues, reflections, distortions and any other imperfections on their photos. This is all thanks to the AI magic on Google Photos. Last year, Samsung unveiled an app, Galaxy Enhance-X, which does almost the same things but exclusive to its Galaxy devices and only available through its own Galaxy Apps Store.
Since its debut last year, Enhance-X has existed as a substitute to the standalone Expert RAW app it had released the previous year to help professional users of the Galaxy S21 Ultra get the most out of the devices’ cameras. Unlike Expert RAW, however, and like Google Photos, Enhance-X harnesses the power of AI to aid everyday users like you and I to get better-quality snaps. I mean, it’s not rare to find users of devices with such good cameras as those in the Galaxy S series taking so-so snaps, is it?
The Enhance-X app has been available on the Galaxy S22 series, the flagship smartphone series from Samsung at the time of its launch and, now, it is available to this year’s flagship smartphone series from the company, the Galaxy S23 series.
Its way of working is still the same: it will identify any blurriness, noise and lack of details and seek to fix it through its various features. The app’s features include Brighten, Face, Fix Blur, Fix Lens Distortion, Fix Moire, HDR, Portrait, Remove Reflection, Remove Shadows and Sharpen. A feature like Face will allow users to play around with their skin smoothness, colour tones, etc. The Portrait feature, to use another example, will let users select where the blur effects take place and even let them choose blur styles.
The app is available to Galaxy S23 users on the Galaxy Apps Store. Samsung says that users of Galaxy A series devices can expect it to make its way to their devices soon.
