Samsung has officially announced that the stable rollout of One UI 7 will kick off on April 7, 2025. The new update, packed with AI-driven enhancements and a fresh design, will first land on the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6 before expanding to more Galaxy smartphones and tablets in the coming weeks.
A gradual rollout – what this means for Kenyan users
As always, Samsung is taking a phased approach with One UI 7. The update will debut in South Korea before making its way to other regions, prioritizing countries that participated in the One UI 7 beta program. That means users in the US, Europe, and select Asian markets will get the update before it reaches other regions. For Kenyan Galaxy users, this means a slight wait, as Samsung will roll out One UI 7 globally in waves.
Historically, Samsung has ensured that flagship devices and select mid-range phones receive major updates within weeks of the initial rollout. Based on previous release patterns, One UI 7 could start appearing in Kenya by late April or early May, depending on the device and region.
What’s new in One UI 7?
Samsung is making some bold changes with One UI 7, focusing on personalization, AI integration, and a more intuitive experience. Here are some of the standout features:
- Redesigned UI and widgets: A more streamlined, emotive design with a simplified home screen and improved One UI widgets.
- Now Bar: This new feature provides real-time updates on the lock screen, so users can check their music or fitness stats without unlocking their phones.
- Galaxy AI boost: AI-powered tools like AI Select, which lets you create GIFs from videos with a simple swipe, and Writing Assist, which can summarize and format text with ease.
- Smart editing tools: Audio Eraser for removing unwanted noise from videos and Drawing Assist for generating images based on text prompts or sketches.
- Deeper Google Gemini integration: The AI assistant can now perform more advanced tasks, like finding nearby pet-friendly restaurants with outdoor seating, with a single voice command.
- Natural language search in settings: Users can type or say phrases like “My eyes are feeling tired,” and the system will suggest enabling Eye Comfort Shield or adjusting brightness.
