In the past week, Google has started rolling out new video editing features to the Google Photos app on Chromebooks.
“The revamped movie creation tools allow you to build your own movie from scratch or from suggested themes. To make a movie, just search for “movie” on your Chromebook launcher, and find the shortcut to the Google Photos app,” wrote the Google Photos Team in a post on its community forums.
“With suggested themes, you can make high-quality movies with just a few taps. Select the theme and the people (or pets!) you’d like included and Google Photos will use both video clips and photos to create a custom movie. It even intelligently selects the most meaningful moments from your long videos. For those who like more creative control, Google Photos’ search capabilities make it easy to select, then arrange photos and clips in the order you’d like.”
It is worth noting that these video editing apps, obviously, don’t turn the Google Photos app into a full-fledged pro video editing app. They are just “nice to have” features that make sense being there since, at present, a number of the gallery applications that we use on Android devices from the device makers themselves usually offer some lite editing capabilities. It makes sense for Google to follow their lead. However, if one needs a pro-grade video editing app, LumaFusion, which recently hit the Android platform, is a good place to start.
