Airtel Kenya has recently announced the rolling out of an additional 100 5G sites across the country.
The company terms the moves as “a quest to enhance internet connectivity to Airtel customers across the country by offering them high speed, low latency, and seamless connection of several devices, as characterised by the revolutionary technology of the 5G network”.
The roll-out, announced last week, sees the number of counties where Airtel’s 5G network is accessible rise from 15 to 32, just three counties shy of competitor Safaricom’s 35.
Airtel’s 5G network coverage in Kenya extends to the following counties: Nairobi, Kiambu, Mombasa, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Machakos, Kisumu, Kilifi, Kajiado, Kwale, Kakamega, Bomet, Embu, Homabay, Kericho, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Busia, Garissa, Migori, Bungoma, Muranga, Kisii, Kitui, Makueni, Taita Taveta, Tana River, Nyamira, Nyeri, Siaya and Nyandarua.
The mobile network operator says that it is on course to rolling out more 5G network sites “to ensure the ultimate presence in all counties”.
“This is to enable more Kenyan individuals, homes, and businesses to enjoy the limitless possibilities brought forth by the 5G network,” Airtel Kenya says.
Airtel Kenya announced the rollout of its 5G network mid this year, becoming the second mobile network operator in the country to do so after Safaricom’s debut of its commercial 5G network late last year.
The company’s 5G bundles start at Kshs 3,500 for an unlimited 10Mbps package and go all the way to Kshs 7,500 for an unlimited 50 Mbps plan. Volume-based packages for both home and individual use are also available.
